Is this for you?

This is ideal if you:

  • Want a retinol cream with built-in barrier support
  • Have struggled to tolerate retinol before
  • Want retinol in a cream rather than a serum
  • Are an intermediate-to-advanced retinol user

Not ideal if you:

  • Are pregnant or nursing (consult physician)
  • Have very reactive skin or active rosacea
  • Want a single-active treatment without barrier complexity

Why this formula works

Retinol for smoother-looking skin

One of the most-studied ingredients in skincare, long associated with the look of smoother, fresher skin.

Full ceramide matrix (NP/AP/EOP)

Three ceramide types that mirror the skin's own surface lipids — included to keep skin comfortable alongside retinol.

Phytosphingosine + cholesterol

Barrier-friendly lipids that round out the blend and help keep skin comfortable while using retinol.

How to use

Night Routine

Apply at night after serum. If new to retinol, use every other evening for the first two weeks. Always follow with SPF the next morning.

What to expect

WEEKS 1–4

The adjustment period

Some flaking and tightness are common as skin gets used to retinol. The ceramide blend helps ease this, though it may not erase it entirely.

WEEKS 4–8

Texture looks smoother

As skin adjusts, it tends to look and feel smoother, with finer-looking pores.

WEEKS 12+

Fine lines look softer

On the usual retinol timeline, fine lines tend to look softer with consistent use.

The 30-day Sorrel & Co promise

Use it daily. If your skin isn't visibly brighter and smoother, return the empty bottle for a full refund — no return shipping, no questions.

Frequently asked

Questions, answered

How does this differ from Face Serum?
Face Serum uses encapsulated retinol with liposomal delivery — gentler, beginner-friendly. Renewal Cream uses standard retinol in a barrier-supportive cream. Choose based on whether you want serum-light or cream-rich texture, and how you want to manage retinization.
Can I use both serum and cream?
Not initially — that's a lot of retinol. Pick one to start. Once tolerated, advanced users sometimes layer for compounding effect, but that's not for everyone and not for early adoption.
Why ceramides if I already moisturize?
Most moisturizers don't include the specific ceramide types (NP, AP, EOP) that match the skin's own surface lipids. Generic moisturizing isn't quite the same as a matched ceramide blend.
Will I purge?
Some people notice more breakouts in the first 2–4 weeks when starting retinol, which usually settles as skin adjusts. If it doesn't settle, it may just be a regular breakout rather than the adjustment phase.
